Kihara Corporation:Building a long-term relationship with our customers will enable us to sustainably expand and grow our Arita-yaki business overseas

  • CLIENT: Kihara Corporation
  • POSITION: Project Coordinator
  • DURATION: 2012-
  • AS: KCmitF

Overview

Kihara Corporation proposes simple and modern pottery designs with an eye to craftsmanship, utilizing a network that only a trading company of Arita-yaki could provide. Currently, we are engaged in the long-term design and execution of Kihara’s overall overseas business strategy.

Background

Kihara Corporation had already built a hypothesis on a viable way forward through its own ongoing overseas expansion of Arita-yaki. They needed someone from outside the company who could make this happen together.

Support contents

Before getting involved with KCmitF as a client, we had already known each other for about 7 years, so we have been engaged in partner matching and overall overseas business strategy design and execution for a long time, starting with our participation in a pop-up event in Singapore, KCmitF’s first country of business.

The first pop-up in Singapore in 2012 didn’t even sell a single product, but when it was launched a month later at Supermama’s 8Q store (in 2012, now relocated), it sold like hotcakes. This experience made him realize how important it is to work with local partners.

Synergy built up over time

By building long-term relationships that cannot be seen in a single year or a few years’ worth of work, we are now able to realize business plans and other objectives that can only be realized through this team. All members involved in the project, including the overseas partners, are now able to recognize that there is a frontier that can be discovered by continuing to grow together.
